Paul Carpenter Associates, Inc. (PCA) was retained by Staten Island Marine Development (SIMD) to perform long-term noise monitoring at the 380 Development site, which is located in Richmond County, Staten Island, New York. The noise monitoring study was intended to document background noise levels prior to any proposed development. In addition, noise monitoring was documented associated with material offloading occurring from docked barges to identify the construction-related increase in noise levels, relative to non-offloading days where either no site activity occurred at all or material movement into and within the temporary storage area would occur. Ultimately, the goal of the study was to facilitate identifying the potential for detrimental effect to sensitive habitats around the site during construction activities. A Findings Report was prepared and provided to SIMD.
